Fall in Playa del Carmen: is it a good idea?

HA_Dia-Muertos-02

We say goodbye to summer but not to the beaches of the Mexican Caribbean. The fall season is highly awaited by locals, as it brings a marathon of iconic cultural holidays. The temperature also becomes more refreshing and indulgent in the region, but this doesn’t mean you must postpone your vacations in Playa del Carmen until next summer, quite the opposite! This destination is in the land of the eternal summer.

Next, we will share three reasons why you should extend (or begin!) your vacations in Playa del Carmen this fall.

Enjoy outdoor activities comfortably

This season is perfect for enjoying the Caribbean scenery with refreshing temperatures of 29°C or 84.2°F maximum. Starting the month of October, you can enjoy a cooler breeze in the morning and at night, but throughout the day, you can still make the most out of the sun’s warmth.

Don’t worry; the weather won’t stop you from going for a swim in the ocean or sunbathing, but you can also do activities to welcome fall’s cozy feeling like:

  • A picnic on the beach with your favorite meal
  • A campfire on the beach with your friends to stargaze
  • walk with your pet on the seashore
  • A stroll with your significant other through the beach or in the 5th Avenue
  • A friendly match of beach volleyball
  • You can scuba dive through the reefs all year round!

Experience the fall festivities

We could say that autumn in Mexico is a synonym for the celebration of the Day of the Death. The preparations can begin as early as October when we start to see cempasuchil flowers on display, smell freshly baked pan de muerto, and gather everything needed to decorate an altar for the dead.

Playa del Carmen does not fall behind with this celebration. If you want to experience this iconic Mexican festivity in the Caribbean paradise, then you can attend the annual parade “We Are All Catrinas” that takes place on 5th Avenue.

Another option is to attend the “Festival of Life and Death Traditions” in Xcaret, where you will enjoy theater, ceremonies, exhibitions, and workshops surrounding the Day of the Death. The dates for this year’s editions are already confirmed, and the festival will take place from October 30th to November 3rd.

Save time and money

The fall months are considered “low season,” which benefits you if you travel this season.

You can enjoy the benefits of lower transportation fees, and you can also enjoy Playa del Carmen without massive crowds. All this means less restaurant waiting time, fewer queues, and more tranquility while walking down 5th Avenue.

Be a clever traveler and make the most of the opportunities that come this time of year!
