COVID-19 is an opportunity to preserve the health of the planet

The quarantine status assumed by almost the entire planet to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infections has helped to control the pandemic. In some countries, governments have begun a phased opening of businesses and shops to continue to control the disease. In Mexico, it is expected that by June the state of quarantine ends, and life begins to return to normal gradually.

Controlling the spread of COVID-19 has not been the only benefit that quarantine has left us. We have seen through news and reports how the health of the planet has improved thanks to the slowdown in our pace of life. Containment measures issued by governments have reduced greenhouse gas emissions and improved air quality worldwide. However, this condition is temporary. When the quarantine ends, we must think about the need to build a more sustainable economy that works for both, people and the planet.

The pandemic showed us that big changes are possible. When we get out of quarantine, we will face a cleaner home; let's fight to keep preserving it in the same way. This new normality that we will face is the opportunity to initiate change in ourselves, in our production and consumption habits, in our daily life, in our way of traveling. Let's seek to lead a more sustainable life, in concordance with nature.

Caring for the environment is essential for our lives on the planet. Nature provides us with health, oxygen, food, water, beautiful landscapes, and a diversity of climates. At the end of the quarantine, remember that nature depends on us and us of it. Embrace it again, it is waiting to welcome you. Come to Happy Address, visit the Riviera Mayaand get closer to it.
