This year, **Tulum** has been nominated as the **Best Beach Destination in Mexico and Central America by the Oscars of World Tourism, the World Travel Awards 2020**.
No one should be surprised by this nomination. Tulum is a paradise of white sand and turquoise sea. If you need more convincing, here we tell you why Tulum is the best beach destination in the Caribbean.
Located on the Caribbean coast of Mexico, in the Yucatan Peninsula, Tulum is a very bohemian coastal area surrounded by vegetation. In its ecosystem, you will find beautiful beaches, mangroves, and cenotes to visit, with great respect for nature.
Tulum was a very important Mayan city and the only one whose ceremonial center is located on the coast, on a cliff. Nowadays, you can visit the archaeological zone of Tulum and discover one of the main postcards of the Riviera Maya.
One of its most famous beaches is Playa Paraíso, a site that has been the winner of the TripAdvisor award for the best beach in Mexico on several occasions. It has public access and very close to there, you will find restaurants and small bars with lounge chairs to enjoy the tranquility of the beach.
The cenote in the area that you cannot miss is El Gran Cenote, an underground freshwater pool in the shape of a cavern. Here, you can practice diving or snorkeling. Also, you will find geological formations such as stalagmites and stalactites.
Besides the natural wonders of Tulum, you also have to get to know the town and enjoy the gastronomy. Here you can find restaurants of all kinds from Mexican food, Yucatecan food, and international delicacies. We recommend you do this tour by bike and burn some calories.
