Cultural activities in the Mayan Riviera are on the rise like the waves in a full moon night, and so are Tulum, Cancun, and Playa del Carmen. These places are never out of date, they are constantly reinventing themselves and setting trends. This year, for example, national and international movies will be featured in the Cinematography and Series International Festival 2019, which is already happening now (November 6th-10th) in Playa del Carmen, and in Tulum's International Film Festival (Fictu), which will take place on December 4th-8th. Both festivals are new.
Tulum's International Film Festival's goal is to give greater visibility to social awareness stories, as well as to Mexican films and auteur cinema. Let's talk about numbers: 25 movies, 60 screenings, 5 venues, 3 days. There will also be talks, forums, and a red carpet event.
The movies will fall in 4 categories: Hemisferio (about social, cultural and environmental matters), Horizonte México (highlighted films by contemporary Mexican filmmakers), Pulsar (experimental movies from international filmmakers), and Sideral (quality commercial cinema).
