In 2023, the World Tourism Organization has pointed to a trend involving nature and **sustainable measures**—that is, **adventure tourism.**
Activities that are considered to constitute adventure tourism include those that take place outdoors, including **ecotourism, sports, and exciting experiences in general.** They can include hiking, climbing, rafting, skydiving, scuba diving, and many more. This type of tourism is characterized by being an invitation to escape the everyday routine1.
The Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA) defines **adventure tourism** as any trip that includes at least two of the following three elements: physical activity, natural environment, and cultural immersion2. That type of tourism highlights the excitement and rush of exploring nature beyond the usual tourist areas.
